Coin
Coin is situated in the Rio Grande valley. A market town grew up in this fertile land on the trade route for minerals such as local marble and iron ore being quarried in the Sierra Blanca to their final destinations in the major cities of Sevilla and Granada.
Today Coin, situated close to
Cartama and Alhaurin, and about 20 kms inland, has grown apace and has been adopted by many an foreign resident looking for the rural idyll as home. There many orange and lemon groves surrounding the town and in fact the towns coat of arms features an orange tree. One of the most visited places in Coin is the shrine of Nuestra Seρora de Fuensanta. This beautiful chapel stands on a hilltop, from which there are fantastic views, and is next to the site used for the annual fair.
