Estacion de Cartama property finding service
Estacion de Cartama
Estacion de Cartama is a rural village, closely linked with the nearby village
of Cartama. It lies approximately 20 kilometres to the west of the city of
Malaga. It has strong rail links which run directly to the centre of Malaga, as
well as the airport. It is a peaceful village with a typical sleepy feel; it
tackles the little tourism it experiences head on but still retains its rustic
charm.
Main Tourist Attractions
Like its neighbour, Cartama, the village is the ideal base for those who love
hiking, mountain biking and walking. As the village lies in the proximity of the
mountains it offers lots of opportunity for trekking and taking in some
breathtaking views. There are also opportunities to go rock climbing, horse
riding or rambling within the immediate area of Estacion de Cartama. The village
of Cartama has the San Pedro church which is worth a visit as it has a small
museum attached to the rear. The short drive to Malaga offers visitors the
chance to indulge in some Spanish history. There is a Roman amphitheatre, an
Arab fortress and 8th century Arabic baths to enjoy. Malaga has several beaches
for sun worshippers and those who love water sports such as water skiing,
sailing and windsurfing. There are also many parks and green spaces in the city
where visitors can relax with a good book or take in the many interesting
sculptures and ornate fountains.
Shopping Opportunities
Estacion de Cartama has several shops and supermarkets for visitors and
residents to make use of. You will find the shops offer a little retail therapy
with items such as clothing, shoes, pottery and leather goods on offer. There is
also a large market every Sunday morning where you will be able to pick up a
bargain. Ultimately a trip into Malaga is needed to splash the cash. As well as
an El Cortes Ingles department store, Malaga has a wonderful pedestrianised
precinct, the Marques de Larios, which is filled with exquisite boutiques and
designer outlets. You can find almost anything you want from toys to ties, gifts
to glasses.
Eating out and Nightlife
The village has a few restaurants, bars and cafés which cater for a variety of
tastes. Many British ex-pats have settled in the area and there is a British
style pub serving British food. The eateries mainly serve traditional Andalucian
fare that can be washed down with a locally brewed beer.
Evenings in Estacion de Cartama are very subdued but the locals love to sit
outside in the evening and watch the world go by with a glass of wine. For those
who love to dance until the early hours, Malaga has a whole host of nightclubs,
discos and bars with live entertainment and music.
